The landslide past facts.

No major landslide has been reported to UFTR or in newspaper since January 2010. Nevertheless small slope failure like erosion and small localized failure still happened due to rainfall. Based on slope failure statistic from 2004 to 2009 the major landslide was occurred at even number year. Since 2004, the major landslide was occurred in year 2004, 2006 and finally 2008. Normally it happened during east north monsoon season for east coast area and transition monsoon season for west coast area for both Peninsular and West Malaysia. According to normal curve of statistic slope failure, 2010 will be the year the major landslide supposes to occur but I hope this year, it won’t happen.

The familiar locations of landslide are Hulu Kelang in Selangor, Cameron Highland and Bukit Fraser in Pahang, East coast area of Island in Penang Island, Gunung Raya in Langkawi Island, Kapit and Miri in Sarawak, Sandakan and the foot of Kinabalu Mountain area in Sabah. The normal statistic showed that the landslide normally occurred in April to Jun and August to December.
